She's not coming out until the air conditioning comes on...
Ohhhweee...it is hot in these parts. The air is thick and still...and not a wisp of wind in sight.
That means there is a lot of fans, electrolytes and hose downs for these two...especially Miss Thing here. She can really struggle with the heat....and I have to keep a close eye on her...which means extra cookies and trips to down to the barn.
A lot of draft horses, especially Gypsy Vanners, tend to struggle in the heat. Their native climate is England which is definitely not Tennessee. They have a real danger of heat stroke...especially if something spooks them and they decide the "nothing monster" is chasing them and start running around.
This morning there was a killer rooster that appeared on the neighbors fence line. Apparently, neither one of them had ever seen a rooster before and they were pretty convinced that their lives hung in the balance. I finally managed to calm them down with breakfast.
Here is to hoping this heat wave breaks soon!
