We had this gate to the barn painted last fall...It sure doesn't look like it, does it?
To some this may look like a worn, rickety old barn gate. To me it looks like love. I don't know how many times a day I walk down to the barn and back...to feed them, to let them in and out, to give them skritches and heart shaped peppermint cookies, to turn their fans on and off, fill their water buckets, brush their manes. Give them kisses on their nose. All I know is that it has been worn with love.
It is a labor of love having horses. There are no breaks or days off or "I don't feel like it today"....There have been times in a bad ice storm where I have crawled down the hill to the barn, the frozen ice on the ground 2" thick, on my hands and knees pushing a bucket of hot water.
That is what love looks like. And I still think I am the one ahead in this deal. My horses have given me more than I have ever given them.
